End of Legacy Leased Lines
NTT's analog leased line service terminates in March 2029. Approximately 3,700 water utilities nationwide require alternative communication infrastructure. Switching to fiber optic lines can increase communication costs more than fourfold.

Vendor Lock-in & High Costs
Dependency on specific vendors has become standard across many water utilities. Black-box systems make independent maintenance virtually impossible, generating ongoing high costs for repairs and upkeep.

Workforce Shortage & Monitoring Costs
Aging infrastructure and declining populations make 24/7 staffed monitoring increasingly difficult to sustain. Securing qualified personnel and managing associated costs place a growing burden on water utilities.

Our Solution

LoModUs Platform

Long Range Modbus Universal System. By leveraging LoRaWAN wireless communication and Modbus/TCP protocol conversion technology, LoModUs replaces legacy leased lines at zero communication cost. Fully compatible with Modbus/TCP and OPC UA — the standard protocols adopted by Japan's national water infrastructure platform promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.

LoModUs Server

A Raspberry Pi-based industrial edge server that performs bidirectional conversion between LoRaWAN and Modbus/TCP. Integrates seamlessly with existing IP-VPN closed networks. Designed for infrastructure deployment with protection against momentary power outages and lightning surges.

LoModUs Air
LoRaWAN ⇔ Modbus/TCP conversion. Self-operated wireless network eliminates communication costs entirely.
LoModUs Carrier
LTE closed-network compatible. Covers remote mountainous locations where LoRaWAN coverage is unavailable.
LoModUs SCADA
Custom SCADA development for infrastructure. Windows installer enables easy deployment even at small-scale utilities.
Zero Communication Cost.
Legacy Lines Replaced.
LoModUs Air was deployed at Fuji City Water Works as a replacement for retired ADSL lines. By adopting open, vendor-neutral protocols, utilities regain full control over their own systems and maintenance.
